2016 BMX Racing is done and dusted for Luke Cristiano
Well 2016 is now done and dusted. With all the hard work and training I have been putting in I have come away with some new state plate to add to the mix. The first of which I came away with 2 x titles in South Australia taking second place in both 30+ retro class and 2 nd place in 35-39 men at the newly revamped Tea Tree Gully BMX club.
Both classes were stacked with talented riders and being the outsider from another state, the advantage of home track knowledge was in their court. But I came away with what I believe, were great results. Especially seeing as the weather had turned so bad bringing in so much rain and turning the track to a mud pit.
I then travelled down to Tasmania for what was a great “country style” race meeting. This was a far smaller race than I am used to for a state titles but it didn’t lack in the spirit of BMX. I had the best time meeting new riders and racing on yet another track I had never been to. Conditions were great for my retro class with fine and sunny, but, just like South Australia, it turned. And with over 50mm of rain on the Sunday, it was a sloppy and mud soaked race.
I walked away with a win in the Retro 30+ class and tried my hand at entering pro open where I came in 5 th place. Now I’m looking forward to the start of next year where I will attend the Melbourrne metro “TRACK ATTACK’ series in January.
Thanks again to all the crew that help me out
